Performance anxiety or stage fright is incredibly common amongst performers. It can differ in intensity depending on many factors.

In this session, performance coach will look at the different ways performance anxiety can show up in different people and what the contributing factors might be, plus a wealth of techniques and tips to help alleviate performance anxiety over time including pre and post performance routines for musicians, covering the following topics:

  • The symptoms of performance anxiety and how it affects people differently

  • Science of performance anxiety

  • Techniques and strategies to reduce performance anxiety

  • Personalised, coaching approach – creating your own pre and post performance routine

  • In the moment strategies

  • When to seek further support

Berenice Beverley Zammit is a Performance Scientist, Consultant and Coach, researcher, lecturer and professional violinist. Berenice works with various performing artists (in particular musicians, dancers, actors and musical theatre performers) and non-artist performers (including athletes, tv and radio presenters, and public speakers) on mental and physical strategies which optimise performance. These include, but are not exclusive to, pre-performance routines, performance anxiety, visualisation, confidence, motivation, physical activity and exercise, vocal health, and injury prevention, especially for orchestral players and conductors.
